Everyone is looking for a way to boost their business. Times are tough when you work in a luxury industry, so you need to think outside of the box and come up with some creative ways to market your photography business.
Here are 5 ways to market your photography business:
1. Host An Event
- Everyone likes a party, right? Of course they do! So, host an event where your friends can meet your friends’ friends’ and get your network on! Don’t make it salesy, just have a good time. The question “What do you do?” will most certainly come up.
2. Embrace a Charity
- Everyone has a cause that they believe in.. or if you don’t you’re not passionate enough about life! Look into your inner-self and find something that you’re passionate about. Then get involved! Shoot an even for the charity for free and network your little butt of while there. You’ll have the opportunity to meet other philanthropic types and chances are good that these people will be influential among your community and could open many doors for you in the future.
3. Shoot Pedestrians
- Take your next day off and go shoot pedestrians! Go down town around lunch time or late afternoon and ask people if you can take their photo in exchange for a print. Get their email address and send them over a high resolution copy for them to have and it gives you a prospect to market to! Not to mention it’s just plain fun.
4. Team Up/Joint Venture
- Team up with the most unlikely business you can find. Yes, I said UNlikely. Every photographer I know teams up with businesses that have the SAME clients… so set yourself apart and introduce yourself to clients that you wouldn’t normally come across. Team up with a plumber, or a landscaping company and cross promote to your respective lists. There will be virtually no competition for you in that ballpark.
5. Split Ad Costs
- Go in on a mailing campaign or a billboard with a local business that may be struggling as well. It’s better to do something that will get you seen and split that with a non-competing business than it is to spend half as much on some marketing that is sub-par and less likely to get noticed. Make your buck count and split the cost while you’re at it!
